US lose more gold from Sydney Olympics

Over recent times the US have been stripped of three gold medals from the Sydney Olympics following Marion Jones’ drug confessions. Now the International Olympic Committee has stripped gold medals from the U.S. men’s 4x400m relay team that won the event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This was expected following Antonio Pettigrew’s doping admission two months ago.

The actions of Pettigrew has hit the entire team as they have all lost their gold medals from Sydney.
The ones who have now lost a gold medal include Michael Johnson and twins Alvin and Calvin Harrison who ran in the final and Jerome Young and Angelo Taylor who ran in the preliminaries.

It has taken nearly eight years to have this happen and without the admissions the drug cheats may have got away with it.

Nigeria ran second in the race in Sydney with Jamaica third and Bahamas fourth. The reallocation of medals has not yet been discussed. Hopefully the Olympic committee will see fit to award Nigeria the gold.
