Steven Gerrard Not Guilty

Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez has admitted he was “really pleased” to hear that Steven Gerrard was found not guilty of affray at the Liverpool Crown Court. He along with football fans worldwide would have breathed a collective sigh of relief on hearing the verdict.

The judge in the case Henry Globe said to Gerrard, “The verdict is a credible verdict on the full facts of this case, and you walk away from this court with your reputation intact.”

Gerrard found himself in this situation after he was accused of being part of a group that injured a business man by the name of Marcus McGee at the Lounge Inn nightclub near Liverpool. The altercation took place in December 2008.

Due to the court case Gerrard has missed Liverpool football clubs Asian tour. The other day his team could only manage a draw against the Thailand national team. Liverpool next faces the Singapore team in Singapore on Sunday night.

Gerrard is not missing all the action on the field as her turned out for the Liverpool XI side in a Friday night game against Tranmere Rovers on Friday night. Gerrard scored a typical goal as he netted a sizzling 25 yard shot to level the scores at 1-1. The Liverpool XI team ended the night with 2-2 result.

Liverpool will open their Barclays Premier League campaign with an away match against Tottenham Hotspur on August 16. The first home game comes three days later against Stoke City.
