So Much for Home-court Advantage in NBA Playoffs

basketballYesterday on NBA.com John Schuhmann wrote about the importance of home-court advantage in the NBA playoffs. He pointed out that last season was one of the best for the home team. You have to go back 18 years to find a better winning percentage. It was 0.744 for the home team.

After the first four games of the NBA playoffs the percentage is down to 0.25. Only the Cleveland Cavs managed a win at home. That was expected as they were 39-2 at home and pretty much gifted the last loss to the 76ers as they rested their key players from the final game at home.

On opening day of the NBA playoffs we saw Chicago stun the Celtics home fans with a hard fought 105-103 victory. The Cavs won at home 102-84 against Detroit.

In the Western Conference we saw Houston cruise to a 108-81 victory in Portland and Dallas got the better of their state rivals, the San Antonio Spurs. It was 105-97 to the Mavericks.

Will the trend continue on day two of the NBA playoffs?
