Sam Stosur into Japan Open Final

A 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 win over Danish top seed Caroline Wozniacki has taken Sam Stosur into her second WTA tour final for 2009. She will be hoping to get her maiden tour title when she faces Francesca Schiavone of Italy.

Stosur has been runner-up in her previous five finals. Schiavone does not have a much better record as she is 1-9 she has at least won a title which came in 2007 when she won on clay at Bad Gastein.

Schiavone reached the final with an easy win over India’s Sania Mirza 6-2, 6-1.

Stosur’s most recent final defeat came at the Los Angeles tournament in August when she lost 6-4 6-3 to Flavia Pennetta.
