Roosters upset 2007 premiers
March 29, 2008
At home the Sydney Roosters have out defended the 2007 NRL premiers Melbourne Storm. In a match that produced only two tries it was the superb Roosters defence that proved the difference.
Roosters winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall scored in the 7th minute following a kick by Mitchell Pearce which was knocked back before Kenny-Dowall scrambled over for the Roosters only try. The conversion saw the Sydney team hold an early 6-0 lead.
After two penalty goals kicked by Craig Fitzgibbon the Roosters were 10-0 up. It looked as thought the Storm would go scoreless for the first time in 5 years. It was not until the 75th minute that Melbourne scored with a converted try to Billy Slater.
The Roosters held on for a well deserved 10-6 victory. The Storm slumped to a second defeat after a close loss to Cronulla last weekend in Melbourne.
