Ron Artest Says He Is To Blame If Lakers Don’t Repeat
Ron Artest is the new guy on the LA Lakers roster going into the 2009-10 NBA season. He switched places with Trevor Ariza who swapped with Artest at the Houston Rockets.
Artest was making his first promotional visit for the Lakers when he made an appearance in San Diego. He came out and said blame me if LA don’t win the 2009-10 NBA title.
“They won last year, and I’m the new addition. The fans expect to repeat. Everybody in L.A. expects a second ring. And if we don’t then yeah, they should point it right at me, throwing tomatoes and everything.” said Artest while on duty to promote the NBA exihibition match between the Lakers and the Denver Nuggets that will be played at the San Diego Sports Arena on October 23.
It seems I know a bit more about San Diego than Artest. He had to ask if the city of San Diego has a baseball team in the major league. They of course have the Padres. Artest was even wearing a Padres hat when he asked that question.
Artest said, “and I’m also here to say that next year I’ll be trying out for the San Diego Chargers, so I look forward to that. Hopefully I can play some baseball. Is there a baseball team here?”
I wonder if he really is planning on a Chargers tryout, or is that just idle talk from the NBA star?
During the promotion Artest was wearing a black Kobe Bryant jersey as a tribute to his new teammate.
Artest spoke of his close friendship with Bryant. He said he had a competitive, but close friendship with Bryant.
