BasketballThe 2009-2010 NBA season is still a few months away from tip off. There may not be much on-court action but there has been plenty happening with player transactions. Below is a list covering the period from 1 July through to August 27. As a Chicago Bulls fan I hated seeing Ben Gordon end up at Detroit. I did however like seeing Australia’s David Andersen sign for the Houston Rockets.

Aug. 21 • L.A. Clippers waived forward Mark Madsen. • Portland Trail Blazers signed rookie forward Dante Cunningham to a multi-year contract.

Aug. 19 • Orlando Magic signed guard Jason Williams.

Aug. 18 • Golden State Warriors named Calbert Cheaney special assistant. • Milwaukee Bucks acquired guard/forward Carlos Delfino and guard Roko Ukic from Toronto Raptors for forward Amir Johnson and guard/forward Sonny Weems.

Aug. 17 • Phoenix Suns signed forward Taylor Griffin.

Aug. 14 • Denver Nuggets re-signed guard Anthony Carter. • Oklahoma City Thunder named Maurice Cheeks and Rex Kalamian assistant coaches.

Aug. 12 • Cleveland Cavaliers signed forward Leon Powe to a two-year contract. • Houston Rockets signed center David Andersen to a multiyear contract. • L.A. Clippers acquired guard Rasual Butler and cash from New Orleans Hornets for a 2016 conditional second-round draft pick.

Aug. 11 • Washington Wizards signed forward/center Fabricio Oberto.
