NBA – Patrick Mills Debuts for Portland Trail Blazers
January 5, 2010
Patrick Mills from Canberra, Australia made his NBA debut for the Portland Trail Blazers against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Trail Blazers who have suffered a terrible run of injuries called up Mills on January 3 and he got his first NBA minutes on January 4, 2010.
The first game for Mills will go down as a 105-95 loss. He played 4 minutes 55 seconds and was 0-3 from the field. He did manage to hand out two assists.
Mills himself was out injured for the early part of the season after he underwent surgery to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot on July 13, 2009.
Patty as he likes to be called was assigned to the D-League’s Idaho Stampede on December 29, 2009 and impressed straight away. He scored 38 points on debut and backed that up with 22 two days later. He scored the winning basket in his second game.
Mills was selected by Portland in the second round (55th pick overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Portland are currently sixth in the Western Conference with a 22-14 record. This is quite impressive considering their injury toll.
