My tip gets up for torch lighting at Olympic opening ceremony
August 9, 2008
What did you think of the Olympic torch lighting in last night’s Olympic opening ceremony? I thought it was pretty cool. Not only did they use the wires to lift the guy, they combined it with the huge screen around the roof of the stadium.
As I had tipped on August 7 it was Li Ning who had the honour of lighting the flame. His mid air run was perhaps a bit long however it was still pretty cool.
I wonder what London can do to top this. My wife and I were wondering what Athens did to light their torch as we both do not remember. This is in contrast to past unforgettable torch lighting ceremonies. Take Barcelona for instance. Who remembers the archer shooting the arrow into the cauldron? Probably all that saw it. And Sydney with the ring rising up from the water with Cathy Freeman in the middle.
How did last nights torch lighting ceremony rate with past Olympics? Would love to read some of your comments.
