Michael Clarke to captain Australia in Fifth Ashes Test
Michael Clarke will captain Australia for the first time in a test match after Ricky Ponting was forced out due to a finger injury. The announcement came a short time ago, along with the naming of the 12-man squad for the final test.
The 12-man squad is: Michael Clarke (c), Brad Haddin (vc), Doug Bollinger, Michael Beer, Phillip Hughes, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mike Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Peter Siddle, Steven Smith, Shane Watson.
Usman Khawaja is in the squad as a replacement for Ponting. His selection is significant as he will become the first Muslim to play test cricket for Australia.
Michael Beer is still part of the squad and may make his debut in Sydney. Injury also forced Ryan Harris out of the team and he was replaced by Doug Bollinger.
