Liverpool stays in the EPL title race
Liverpool completed a 3-0 victory over relegation threatened Newcastle on Sunday. Manchester United still has one hand on the trophy as they are three points clear of Liverpool with a match in hand.
Liverpool scored two goals in the first half through Yossi Benayoun and Dirk Kuyt. A late header from Lucas made it 3. Newcastle’s Joey Barton was sent off after a bad tackle on Xabi Alonso with 11 minutes left to play.
Newcastle are now three points adrift of Hull City who occupy the last spot above the drop zone.
Everton got back in the winners circle with a 2-0 win over Sunderland. The win moves Everton into fifth place in the Barclays Premier League. Sunderland is five from the bottom and will need to pick up a few points to ensure they stay in the EPL.
