Liverpool Crush Man Utd 4-1

Liverpool has come from a goal down to register their biggest win at United since 1936. Does this put them back in the hunt for the EPL title? The win moves Liverpool to within four points of the league leaders however United has a game in hand and could extend that margin to seven.

Manchester United has nine games to play as they try to secure the title.

In today’s match it was Cristiano Ronaldo who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. He slotted home a penalty after Pepe Reina had fouled Ji-Sung Park. Eight minutes later the Liverpool revival took off. Fernando Torres forced an error out of Nemanja Vidic and then beat Edwin van der Sar to level the match.

Another penalty was scored by Steven Gerrard after he was brought down by Patrice Evra. This goal in the 44th minute saw the teams go into the break at 2-1.

The key moment in the second half was the send off or Vidic in the 76th minute. He had been beaten by Gerrard and with the Liverpool captain headed for goal Vidic pulled him back. The result was a red card. A minute later Aurelio further added to United’s problem as he scored from a superb 25-yard free kick.

As he had against Real Madrid in the mid-week Champions League match, Dossena scored a late goal to complete the rout.

Is this a one off stumble by United? Or is the race really alive. The ball is in Man U’s court and it is up to them to claim the title. If I was betting I would have my money on United however my heart is hoping Liverpool can pull off a stunning revival and steal the EPL title.
