Liverpool Back On Top – But For How Long?
Liverpool, thanks to an injury time match winning goal by substitute Yossi Benayoun is back on top of the English Premier League. The Merseyside team is on 67 points from 31 games. Manchester United who take on Aston Villa on Sunday at Craven Cottage have two games in hand.
In Liverpool’s match against Fulham it looked as though they would have to settle for a draw despite dominating the game in parts. In the match Liverpool struck the woodwork four times before finally getting one in the back of the net.
Liverpool are still in the hunt for their first league title since 1990. Man Utd would be expected to win the Aston Villa match as Villa have struggled of late however Villa are keen to get things back on track so you can’t count them out.
In other EPL action Chelsea kept Newcastle in the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory at St James’ Park. Arsenal defeated Manchester City 2-0 at home. Bolton Wanderers were too good for Middlesbrough taking a 4-1 victory. Blackburn defeated Tottenham 2-1, Hull City and Portsmouth 0-0, Stoke City defeated WBA 2-0 and West Ham United defeated Sunderland 2-0.
All eyes will now be on the Manchester United v Aston Villa match.
