The no. 2 seed lost to Thailand’s Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3, 6-2.

Tanasugarn has earnt a spot in the quarters where she will face the defending champion Venus Williams.

Jie Zheng and Nicole Vaidisova will meet one another in another quarterfinal.

With the top three seeds now out of the tournament it is now looking likely that there will be an all Williams final at Wimbledon. Both Williams girls are playing well.
