Hughes Firing Against South Africa
Phil Hughes may have been dismissed for a duck in his first test innings but since then he has sure made up for that. The 20-year-old Australian test opener scored 75 runs in the second innings to top score for the Aussies as they built up a match winning total in the first test. He has now backed that up with a scintillating 115 in the second test.
Hughes was dismissed by Jacques Kallis with McKenzie taking a catch. His 115 runs came from 151 balls. At lunch he had reached 75 with Simon Katich also not out on 36. At one stage Hughes got stuck into Morne Morkell hitting four consecutive boundaries. Hughes was dismissed when the score was 184.
Katich has continued his innings and is on 63 as I write, Ponting is on 6.
Australia will look to build a huge first innings to put pressure on the South Africans. The two teams are fighting it out for the top ranking in test cricket.
