The New Orleans Hornets fired Scott early Thursday morning. This came after his team had fallen to 3-6 after a 124-104 loss to Phoenix.

Scott is replaced by the New Orleans Hornets general manager Jeff Bower. Bower will be assisted by the coach that Scott replaced several years ago, Tim Floyd.

“Accountability was our theme this past summer,” Hornets vice president Chad Shinn said in a statement released by the team. “We talked about the fact that everyone on our staff is held to a certain standard of performance and we didn’t feel this was happening at the head coach level.

Last season  we saw six NBA coaches fired in the first two months of the season with a seventh fired after the All-Star break. No doubt more will follow Scott out the exit door this season.
