Germany advance at Euro 2008

After the excitement of the Turkey-Czech Republic match on Sunday there were two less dramatic matches on Monday night in the Euro 2008 Group B.

Germany did enough to advance to the quarterfinals. They defeated host, Australia 1-0 after a Michael Ballack rocket hit the back of the net.

Croatia completed a perfect group stage when they ended the campaign of the team from Poland by taking the match 1-0.

Germany will now face an in-form Portugal team on Thursday 19 June in Basel. Croatia faces Turkey in Vienna on Friday 20 June.
