Gamba Osaka advance to Club World Cup semi with Man Utd

Tonight in Japan at the FIFA Club World Cup Gamba Osaka has narrowly defeated Adelaide United and advanced to the semifinal where they will meet Manchester United.

A goal for Osaka by Endo in the 24th minute was enough to take the match 1-0. Adelaide United were unlucky to bow out as they had several good chances just not quite go in. The best opportunity came with Adelaide captain seeing his effort on goal hit the cross bar after heading over Osaka’s goalkeeper in the 42nd minute.

The two teams had met in the recent Asian Champions League final where the Japanese team won 5-0 over two legs. Adelaide played a much better match tonight and were unlucky to lose.

The match was in doubt right up until the last minute as Dodd again went close with his shot going inches wide of the right upright in the dying stages of the match.

Manchester United and Gambo Osaka will play on Thursday and Pachuca will face Liga de Quito on Wednesday.
