French Open tennis day 6 results

It was not a good day for the Williams sisters at Roland Garros on day 6 of the 2008 French Open. First Serena was bundled out in straight sets. She lost to Katarina Srebotnik 6-4, 6-4. Later in the day Venus also exited the open with a 7-5, 6-3 loss to Flavia Pennetta.
The women’s top seeds had no such trouble. No. 1 seeded Maria Sharapova was once again made to work, however she came through her match against Bethanie Mattek of the USA with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win. Last years beaten finalist and no. 2 see Ana Ivanovic won in straight sets over Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-1.
14th seeded Agnieszka Radwanska defeated France’s Alize Cornet 6-4, 6-4. Patty Schnyder (10) defeated Emilie Loit 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-2. Carla Suarez Navarro defeated Australia’s top ranked female player, Casey Dellacqua 6-3, 6-3.
In the men’s tournament it was business as usual for Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Nadal easily moved into the fourth round with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jarkko Nieminen. Djokovic also moved into the fourth round following his 7-5, 6-4, 6-2 win over Wayne Odesnik.
Center court was kind to two Frenchmen with Michael Llodra picking up a win over Simone Bolelli 7-6(2), 6-4, 7-6(5). Coutryman Paul-Henri Mathieu defeated Argentina’s Eduardo Schwank 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(9).
