Bernard Tomic pushed Novak Djokovic all the way in a scrappy quarter-final match at Wimbledon. The no. 2 seed won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Novak Djokovic took an early lead after getting a break in the first game of the set. He got a second break at 4-2 and then served out the set.

In the second set Tomic turned things around and broke Djokovic at 2-1 after a double-fault and a careless shot found the net. Tomic held on to level the match at one set a piece. Perhaps the pressure of playing for the number one ranking was getting to Djokovic.

Tomic looked to be taking control of the match when he got an early break in the third set to take a 3-1 lead. He then seemed to let the occasion get to him and started making too many errors allowing the world no. 2 to win five straight games and with that the set 6-3.

This match showed Tomic has the talent to compete with the best players in the world, it also showed his inexperience and the fact that he is just 18 and has not played that many matches at the top level.

The fourth set saw Djokovic break early, only for Tomic to hit back and make the game score 2-2. Games went with serve until 5-5 when Djokovic found a way to break. He delivered and then served out the match to win the fourth set 7-5.

With the win Djokovic moves on to play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who defeated Roger Federer 3-6, 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Federer lost a Grand Slam match for the first time from two sets up.

A win for Djokovic will see him as the world no. 1 however it will not be an easy task.

In the other semi Andy Murray will play Rafael Nadal. Murray defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and Nadal defeated Mardy Fish 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
