Dragons finally breathing fire to down Roosters

April 26, 2008

The St George Illawarra rugby league team have not set the world on fire at the start of the 2008 NRL season. They have only managed 2 points from their first 6 games.

On the other hand the Roosters have started the season showing good form early in the season. They have notched up a win over the 2007 premiers. Not long ago they were sitting at the top of the ladder.

Last week this ended as they lost a match to the Newcastle Knights. On this special ANZAC Day match the Sydney City Roosters were expected to bounce back and continue the bad run for the Dragons.

It did not work out this way and it was the Dragons who looked the better team early on. After 7 minutes the Dragrons had built a 12-0 lead. The Roosters got it back to 12-6 after Anthony Tupou scored a good try.

Unfortunately for Roosters fans this would be the last time they scored in the match. In the end the Dragons ran out winners 26-6.

It goes to show you that form can change in a matter of weeks. The Roosters now need to pick things up for their next clash or they will drift down the ladder.

In the other game played on ANZAC Day the horror start for the Rabbitohs continued after they went down to the Brisbane Broncos 32-18. The Rabbitohs had closed the score to 26-18 with six minutes left on the clock. The Broncos stretched the lead right on fulltime when Joel Moon crossed for a try.
