Australia will be looking to advance from their Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Playoff when the doubles are played later today.

The Aussies started well with both Lleyton Hewitt and Carsten Ball winning in straight sets against their Japanese opponents.

Ball made history when he played his live singles match. It marked the first time a father and son had played for Australia  in live Davis Cup action.

Ball teams up with Paul Hanley to play Go Soeda and Takao Suzuki in the doubles. A win for the Aussies will see them move on with an unbeatable 3-0 lead.

In the other playoff tie Kazakhstan leads China 2-0.
