Bucks Notch Up Another Impressive Win
March 21, 2010
The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off an impressive 102-97 over the Denver Nuggets on the road. It was John Salmons who led the way with 26 points. Carlos Delfino added 21 points. Andrew Bogut had a very quiet night with just two points after being in foul trouble.
Carmelo Anthony was solid scoring 29 points for the Nuggets although that came from 29 shot attempts. Chauncey Billups matched Anthony with 29 points however that was not enough to get past the Bucks who are one of the form teams in the East at the moment.
To the credit of the Bucks this game followed a double-overtime winning game in Sacramento on Friday night. The plane the Bucks were traveling on did not land in Denver until 3 a.m.
The Bucks are now looking likely to make the playoffs as the fifth seed and currently have a 38-30 record. For the Nuggets the loss allows Utah to close in for the Division lead. The Nuggets are 47-23 for the season.

Rose and Noah Return as Bulls Win
March 21, 2010
The Chicago Bulls recently lost 10 games straight for the first time since Nov 7-21, 2001. For the past four of those games Derrick Rose was out and for all ten they were without Joakim Noah.
Against the Philadelphia 76ers both players returned to the lineup and the result was a 98-84 victory. Rose led the way with a team high 23 points, including 12 in the first quarter. The 76ers gave him the three-point shot and he made them pay as he sunk two in the opening 12 minutes.
Noah was not used as much as Rose however his presence was a much needed boost to the struggling Bulls. Noah added nine points and pulled down four rebounds during his 9 minutes 22 seconds on court. Kirk Hinrich chipped in for 17 points.
For the 76ers starting center Samuel Dalembert was just behind Marreese Speights who top scored with 17 off the bench. Former number one draft pick for the Chicago Bulls, Elton Brand could only manage two points against his former team.
The Bulls next play on Monday against the visiting Houston Rockets who will be backing up from a match against New York.
Toronto, the main challenge for the Bulls in reaching the playoffs managed to maintain their margin of 2.5 games ahead of the Bulls as they defeated the New Jersey Nets 100-90.

Bulls Slide Continues
March 20, 2010
The Chicago Bulls have managed to mix it with the Cleveland Cavaliers however in the end it was another loss to see the Bulls go 0-10 over the last ten matches.
Playing at home the Bulls fans gave LeBron James a good cheer when he was introduced during the pre-game ceremonies. The fans clearly would like to see him pull on the Bulls uniform next season.
It was LeBron that made the difference when he re-entered the game with 7:04 left to play and the Bulls leading 75-74. He score 13 points down the stretch to give the Cavs a 92-85 victory.
In what was a milestone game for LeBron he scored 29 points including points that took him to 15,000 career points. He became the youngest player in the NBA to reach that milestone bettering Kobe Bryant’s mark by more than two years.
James reached the milestone at 25 years and 79 days and was playing his 540th game. Bryant was 27 years and 136 days we he reached the milestone. Bryant took 657 games to reach that mark.
For the Bulls they are hoping to see Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah return to the lineup, possibly on Saturday night against the 76ers. The other injured starter Luol Deng is out for another two weeks and maybe the season.
The Bulls now find themselves in ninth spot on the Eastern Conference ladder at 31-37. The next team is the Toronto Raptors with a 33-34 record. The Raptors have nearly been as bad as the Bulls over recent times with an 2-8 record.
It remains to be seen if the Bulls can turn things around with the return to the team of Rose and Noah.

Michael Jordan First Ex-Player to Own NBA Team
March 19, 2010
Michael Jordan has been given approval from the other NBA team owners and is now officially the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. He becomes the first ex-player to own a NBA team and just the second black majority owner.
Jordan said it was a “dream come true” to own the team. Jordan in the past has been criticized for not being involved enough with the team said that will change as he is now the majority owner.
Michael Jordan first made his name in North Carolina and helped North Carolina to the 1982 national championship hitting the winning shot. He then of course became a NBA legend through his time at the Chicago Bulls.
He then spent time in management roles at the Washington Wizards but things did not go to plan. Several years ago Bob Johnson asked Jordan to get involved with the Bobcats. Despite some reluctance he did take on a role with the team and now is the owner.
Jordan will be doing all he can to turn the Bobcats into a championship team. He said he knows what it is like to win and he wants to bring that feeling to the city of Charlotte and the state of North Carolina.
You can watch the press conference which is below.

Andrew Bogut who is from Australia has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the games played March 8 through March 15.
This is the first time he has received the award.
Bogut has been key in the Bucks current good form. Over the three game period in the above week the Bucks went 3-0. Charlotte Bobcats Heading For the Playoffs
March 15, 2010
In late February it was announced that Michael Jordan would become the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. This is subject to league owners approval.
Since that news the Bobcats have been on a run of 6-2 including the last six straight being W’s.
The Bobcats are an expansion team who joined the league in 2004. Since joining the NBA they are yet to reach the playoffs.
The Bobcats are looking to change that this season and they are currently holding down sixth place on the Eastern Conference standings. This comes thanks to six straight wins.
The Bobcats in that win streak have managed to defeat both the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers. The win over the Magic came on the road as they won 96-89 playing without key player Gerald Wallace.
The Bobcats play another 17 games before the NBA finals so there is still a bit of work to get done before they can say they are in the NBA finals. Two of those games are against the Atlanta Hawks.
Hopefully for the Charlotte fans the team can continue to get the wins and reach the NBA finals.

Tale of Two Teams – Bulls and Bucks
March 13, 2010
Not long ago the Bulls and the Bucks were the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. The Bulls had put together a nice win streak on the road and were 8-2 over a ten game stretch. The Bucks had also gone 8-2 over ten games.
Then came February 27. That’s when the season changed for the Bulls, or was it when the traded John Salmons to the Bucks? Injuries have taken their toll on the Bulls. They have 123 games player games missed due to injury or illness.
In the game against the Heat on Friday night they were without the All-Star guard Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah Luol Deng and Jerome James and that is just too many good players to overcome.
The result was consecutive loss number seven for the Bulls who are 2-8 from their last ten.
The Bucks on the other hand continue to surge. John Salmons has been a good addition to the Bucks roster and Australian Andrew Bogut is playing like a past no.1 pick should. That along with tough defence has seen the Bucks go 9-1 over their last ten matches and they find themselves in fifth spot on the Eastern Conference ladder.
Just to show how consistent Bogut is now he along with Dwight Howard are the only players in the NBA to average at least 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks a game.
To look ahead the Bucks could maybe think about at least an Eastern Conference final appearance while the Bulls will have to turn things around fast or it will be fishing during the NBA playoffs.
How far do you think the Bucks can go? Are the Bulls done for the season?

Perth Wildcats Claim NBL Title Five
March 12, 2010
In what is a year of consolidation for the NBL the Perth Wildcats have defeated the Wollongong ahm Hawks 96-72 in the deciding Game Three of the National Basketball League season. The match was played at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Friday night

Kevin Lisch had a game-high 29 points for the Wildcats to make him the obvious choice for the Larry Sengstock Medal as the Grand Final Most Valuable Player. Damian Martin added 17 for Perth and Stephen Weigh 13.
None of the Wollongong players really got going and Glen Saville’s 13 was the top score for the visitors while Cameron Tragardh and Rhys Martin both have 12.

D Rose – Watch Out for Howard!
March 12, 2010
Back in February just before the All-star break the Bulls faced the Orlando Magic. In that game Derrick Rose took on Dwight Howard and came off second best. The two players collided in midair and Rose crashed to the floor injuring his hip.
Now around one month later the Bulls once again faced the Magic. Once again Rose challenged Howard and once again Derrick Rose crashed to the floor. As he got up he clutched his lower back and hand. He managed to take his free throws making one of two before ending the first quarter.
In the quarter time break Rose was checked over and it was decided he would sit out the rest of the game due to a wrist injury.
Without Rose on the team it was just too much for the Bulls to match it with the Magic. Even with Rose in the team the slumping Bulls were going to do it tough. The Bulls have been hit hard by injury and after not long ago being in the number five spot on the Eastern Conference, they now find themselves losing touch with the top eight.
The Bulls have a tough run home with the majority of their games against teams with winning records.
Against the Magic the Bulls went down 111-82. By the half-time break the Magic led by more than 30 points. The Bulls started the third period with good energy but a late run by the Magic snuffed out any thoughts of a comeback.

Marion Jones Joins WNBA
March 10, 2010
Disgraced athletics star Marion Jones has signed to play in the WNBA with the Tulsa Shock. Way back in 1994 Jones was the starting point guard for the championship winning North Carolina team.
Jones famously was forced to hand back her five medal haul from the Sydney Olympics, including three gold, after getting caught out in the BALCO steroid scandal.
After lying about taking performance enhancing drugs Jones served a six-month sentence. She was released from that 18 months ago.
Jones was drafted in 2003 by the Phoenix Mercury however she never played. Nolan Richardson’s up-tempo style of game attracted Jones. Richardson says she looks fast but now the key is how long will it take to get into basketball shape.
Tulsa have a forgive and forget attitude and say Jones should be given a chance to start a new career. Do you agree?
