Bulls Battle for Game 4 Win
Derrick Rose had a shot to win game four as time wound down. His high looping running shot missed and the game went into overtime. This time the Celtics shot for the win but they missed. Double OT was the result.
After the thumping the Bulls received at the hands of the Celtics in game three they were keen to make amends in front of their home fans. Unlike game three the first quarter was a tight affair. The Celtics had gone out to a seven point lead however the Bulls fought back to end the first quarter down 18-19.
The second quarter saw Chicago go out to a seven point lead before this time the Celtics fought back to go into the half-time break up by one point. The score was 46-45.
No team was able to get away in the third quarter but a late burst by Paul Pierce saw Boston go from 63-65 to 70-65 to end the quarter.
In the fourth the Bulls bridged the gap to end regulation time locked at 96. Rose at this stage had scored 23 points.
In the first period of ovetime Boston jumped to a five point lead. The Bulls fought back and a tough 3pt shot from Gordon levelled the scores at 110. Boston had 4.5 seconds to win the match but a Rondo jumper missed and the Bulls lived again.
In the second overtime period it was the Bulls who took the lead. They scored the first four points. With 35 seconds left to play the Bulls were up 117-112. Boston managed to get to within one point after Pierce sunk a 3pt shot with 19.2 seconds to play. The score was 119-118. A pair of free throws were converted by Salmons and the match was over.
The Bulls won 121-118 to level the series. The big three for Boston, Pierce, Rondo and Allen scored 29, 25 and 28 respectively. For the Bulls Rose top the scoring with 23. Gordon had 22 and Salmons 20.
