Brian Goorjian heading back to Melbourne

The National Basketball League’s most successful coach in NBL history will coach the South Dragons for the next three seasons.  Goorjian who is also the current Australian national team said he looks forward to returning to Melbourne.

Goorjian spent 15 years in Melbourne before moving to Sydney for the past six seasons where he coached the Sydney Kings. Under his guidance the Kings played in five grand final series winning three. Recently the Kings lost a tight NBL grand final series against the Melbourne Tigers.

Goorjian also won two NBL titles with the the South East Melbourne Magic. Before the next NBL season Goorjian will be hoping to guide the Australian Boomers to a medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Bill Tomlinson has been appointed to the coaching role at the Sydney Kings. Tomlinson has previously coached in the NBL having been head coach at the now defunct Hobart Tassie Devils.  

It will be interesting to see who follows Goorjian from the Sydney Kings down to the South Dragons
