Brazil and Netherlands to Meet in Quarterfinals
Brazil and the Netherlands both advanced to the quarter finals of the FIFA 2010 World Cup Football. Brazil easily defeated South American rivals Chile 3-0 while the Netherlands defeated Slovakia 2-1.
A headed goal from Juan started the scoring for Brazil when he scored after 35 minutes. Just three minutes later they stretched the lead to 2 when a nice touch from Kaka put Luis Fabiano into space and he rounded the keeper to score.
In the second half a nice curling shot from Robinho took the score to 3-0.
In the other match is was Arjen Robben who put in a man of the match performance in his first game as a starter at the World Cup. He scored in the 18th minute after cutting back from the right to setup a shot with his left foot. This beat an outstretched Slovakian keeper to send his team to the lead.
In the second half another goal did not come until the 84th minute when Wesley Sneijder scored.
Robert Vittek made the score look close when he scored from the penalty spot from what turned out to be the final kick of the match.
Now the Netherlands face Brazil it what you would expect should be a win for Brazil. The Dutch may have another gear to used and could possibly pull off a big upset.
On Tuesday we see Japan face Paraguay and Spain plays Portugal. That should be a huge match.
