Australian women’s Olympic Hockey team announced for Beijing
The Australian women’s hockey team to take part in the Beijing Olympics in China was announced yesterday.
The sixteen woman Australian Olympic Hockey team is:

Madonna Blyth
Casey Eastham
Emily Halliday
Kate Hollywood
Nikki Hudson
Rachel Imison
Fiona Johnson
Angie Lambert
Kobie McGurk
Hope Munro
Megan Rivers
Kim Walker
Melanie Wells
Sarah Young
The youngest team member is Casey Eastham at 19. The oldest member of the hockey team is Kim Walker at 32.
Nikki Hudson is the most experienced player having played 293 games. Hudson was also a member of the 2000 and 2004 Australian women’s hockey team. Rachel Imison and Angie Lambert are also three time Olympians having taken part in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics.
Emily Halliday and Nicole Arrold have also experienced the Olympics after playing in the Athens Olympics in 2004. That leaves 10 players who will be making their Olympic debut in the Beijing hockey tournament.
The Australian women’s Olympic hockey team has won gold at three Olympics. The first won the gold at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. They came fifth in Barcelona in 1992. Australia then won back to back gold medals at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and Sydney in 2000.
