cricket stumps and ballThe defending champion World Cup cricket team, Australia, has started their title defence with a comfortable 91-run win over Zimbabwe.

Australia set a target of 263 after scoring 6/262 in their 50 overs. The bowled Zimbabwe out for 171 after 46.2 overs.

Shane Watson top scored for Australia hitting 72 from 92 balls. Michael Clarke backed that up with an unbeaten 58.

Mitchell Johnson starred with the ball for Australia taking 4-19.

The win makes it 24 in a row over recent campaigns and the 30th successive match without defeat as they tied the semi-final in 1999.

Australia’s next match will be against New Zealand on 25 February.
