Aussie NBA watch – Friday 6 November

Photo of a basketballThe NBA currently has four Australians on the rosters. Andrew Bogut is the best known of the bunch, having been drafted at no. 1 for the Bucks back in 2005. He is joined in the NBA by David Andersen who plays for the Houston Rockets, Nathan Jawai for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Patrick Mills who is with the Portland Trail Blazers.

In Friday night action it was the clash of the Australians as Bogut and his Bucks took on the Timberwolves. It was Bogut who got the better of Jawai as his team ran out 87-72 victors. The Bucks are now 2-2, while the Timberwolves are struggling at 1-5. Bogut scored 17 points and pulled in 10 rebounds while Jawai got just two points and one rebound.

David Andersen’s Houston Rocket team defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-94 in Houston. Andersen who joined the Rockets this season to fill the hole left in the center after Yao Ming was ruled out for the season scored two points and grabbed on defensive rebound in his just under seven minutes of action. The Rockets are 4-2, sitting in fourth on the Western Conference ladder.

Patrick Mills saw his team get a 96-84 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Mills is yet to play this season and is inactive. The Trail Blazers are now 2-3 for the season.
