Ana Ivanovic ousted from Australian Open

Last night we saw Venus Williams dumped out of the Australian Open. Now it is the turn of Ana Ivanovic to say good bye.

Tonight on HiSense arena the no. 5 seed was defeated by Russian Alisa Kleybanova 7-5, 6-7, 6-2. Kleybanova is the no. 29 seed. She reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2008.

Kleybanova will next play Australia’s Jelena Dokic who earlier defeated Caroline Wozniacki on center court.

Ivanovic reached the final in 2008 where she lost to Maria Sharapova. Sharapova is not competing at this years Australian Open tournament as she recovers from shoulder surgery. She could have played however thought her fitness level was not sufficient to compete at the top level.
